Garden Wild Original Acrylic Painting on New York Slate
This is an original acrylic painting on Granville, NY slate, titled "Garden Wild". I fell in love with slate when I lived in Saratoga Springs, New York. It was in 2010 that I made a trip to Granville and found this gorgeous slate. I collected and smoothed down the rough edges of the slate before I started painting.
I painted a trumpet creeper, honeysuckle and some local flora. A bumblebee, weevil, ladybug, and a frog are also depicted. This is one of the first pieces I painted when I was teaching myself to paint. I added the bugs because I always loved those Dutch painters that painted the flowers in vases and included all kinds of insects.
I sealed everything with a UV resistant clear coating to protect the artwork.
It is 15.5 x 9.5 inches and weighs about 1 pound.
I really enjoyed painting this and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
A free display stand is included, (not shown).
