About Me
Hi, I'm Laura, and welcome to Laura Wilson Gallery! I'm so glad you dropped by.
I've been making jewelry since I was a child, restringing my mother's necklaces in Encinitas, California. In 1974 I took an adult education class, soldered my first silver ring, and I was hooked. I'm mostly self-taught. I learned the basics from Murray Bovin's book, "How to Make Jewelry," and picked up enameling and diamond setting in a few classes along the way.
I've been making magnetic earrings since the 1980s, always refining them to be the most comfortable earrings in the world: no pinching and no piercing. I also make magnetic brooches, eyeglass holders, tie tacks and ear wraps, and many of my earrings can be ordered pierced. Some of my earrings are made from fabric, so they're hypoallergenic and almost anyone can wear them.
A note about magnets: the wider the magnet, the more comfortable the earring. If you're allergic to nickel, choose earrings with enamel-painted ceramic magnets front and back, because neodymium magnets are plated with nickel.
I also paint original acrylic art on canvas and slate. I make my jewelry by hand in Kingman, Arizona, USA.
Please think of me as your very own personal jewelry designer. I'm always happy to make a custom piece in your colors, just for you. Just drop me a note at mslaurawilson@hotmail.com.
