Fused Sterling Silver Pierced Brooch Pin
I used a torch to create this sterling silver brooch by fusing sterling silver sheet and wire together at around 1600 degrees Fahrenheit. Creating this piece was an adventure, because although I have a lot of control and experience, silver sometimes melts in unexpected ways, making each piece one of a kind.
I just stop playing with the torch when I see a shape that pleases my eye.
When this piece was finished I decided it looked like a bat or a dragon, however you may see something entirely different. I think that’s partly why I love fused silver so much, you can use your imagination and see a completely different shape; it’s all in the eye of the beholder. It has a standard piercing nickel silver pin back because there wasn't enough room for magnets.
It's 27 x 45 mm in size. In case you don’t have a metric ruler handy, 13 mm=1/2 inch.
